Upgrading DNN
Reply Quote
Hello all,

I have a few questions regarding upgrading an existing installation of DNN on WebHost4Life.

  1. Does WebHost4Life have the latest upgrade files available?
  2. Is there an  automatic upgrade process available via WebHost4Life - not a new installation, but an upgrade?
  3. Can we upload the DNN upgrade .zip files and then unzip them into our DNN directory on the WebHost4Life server?  This would save a lot of time if the upgrade zip file could be unpacked on the WebHost4Life server.
Thanks

Rod.

1. No (goto http://www.dotnetnuke.com 4.6.2 is current)
2. Not sure but not seen one.
3. I really wouldn't recommend it as i have in the past tried and been plagued with a timeout.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!  Do NOT just overlay the contents of the zip file WITHOUT backing up your current web.config!  You will need the encryption keys from the old file inserted in the new file.  Please read the installation instructions carefully before upgrading.  If you don't, you will not be able to log in to your site!

1. No! Latest DNN version is 4.8.3

2. No!

3. Sure, but keep in mind what 'wcaterino' has pointed out!!! Backup your DNN folder, especially your 'web.config'!!! And yes, backup your data base!!!
