Multiple MS SQL Server databases
Reply Quote

Hi,

Am looking at signing up for an account.  I just need to know if I can create multiple SQL Server 2005 databases with just one account (Advance or Premium Plan).

Thanks in advance for your reply!

There is the same limit on SQL 2005. 2 databases.

WebHost4Life have recently changed their T&C without notification which I'm not pleased about. Like others, I'd created two databases (live and pilot) and today, I've deleted my pilot one as I'd made a lot of changes and easiest way was to replace it. I'm now unable to re-create the database without paying another $45 a year.

Do this kind of thing too often, and the good name will get out. I signed up to a service that offered two databases with a limit on total database disk space which was fine. To remove this flexibility is not very customer friendly for existing customers!

Rob.

HOPS,

Well, you can 'attach' a new MS SQL data base. Then, you just have to pay $30 per year.

Actually, I emailed support to complain about this and they instantly gave me back the 2nd database as that was the deal when I signed up.

Well done WebHost4Life - that makes me much happier and a satisfied customer.

Cheers, Rob.

I would also like confirmation when this CP issue has been resolved to show the appropriate # of database options.

Thanks,
Sam

The problem with 2 MSSql dbs is that you should have a seperate database for each project you're working on. As a web application developer, I have worked around this by building the db locally and then getting the client to sign up with WBH4L as the project starts to take form. Then I will utilize the 2 databases for the client, by building the 'sandbox/production' scheme and have a testing environment as I complete the project. Just a thought.

Ah-ha, not a bad workaround, if you have the experience.  Secure connection to my own SQL Server - [http://forum.webhost4life.com/1784/ShowPost.aspx]
