Running Movable Type

I was wondering if it was possible to run Movable Type on WebHost4Life.

- I downloaded the zip, ftpd the content
- Created a MySQL database
- edited mt-config.cgi with the correct path and sql database

When i now run : http://mydomain.com/MT-3.2-en_US/mt-check.cgi (yes, thats the url for my test) i see that the

DBD::mysql

is not installed.

Sneakily i already try : http://mydomain.com/MT-3.2-en_US/mt.cgi to configure it, but this gives me "

CGI Error

The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers."

Has anyone got Movable Type up and running?

its up and running!

within 5 minutes of me asking them, the helpdesk installed the mysql perl module, after that
I used this tip : http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/kb/installation/cgi_error_on_ii.html

and now it runs!

Hi edelwater,
I am trying to install Movable Type, too, but I am having trouble getting it done. Would you mind telling me what modification is required other then uploading the files and grant execute permission? Also, what did you ask the helpdesk to do for you exactly? Thank you. Really appreciate it.

Hello,

I am trying to install MoveableType 4.12 and all goes well until it's time to actually log into the management studio for the first time.

First it complains that it can't find the "List/Util.pm" perl script, and gives the following error.

Can't locate List/Util.pm in @INC (@INC contains: D:\hosting\member\usr\mt\plugins\WXRImporter\lib D:\hosting\member\usr\mt\plugins\WidgetManager\lib D:\hosting\member\usr\mt\plugins\Textile\lib D:\hosting\member\usr\mt\plugins\StyleCatcher\lib D:\hosting\member\usr\mt\plugins\spamlookup\lib D:\hosting\member\usr\mt\plugins\MultiBlog\lib D:\hosting\member\usr\mt\extlib D:\hosting\member\usr\mt\extlib lib C:/Perl/lib C:/Perl/site/lib .) at lib/MT/Util/ReqTimer.pm line 23. So, I looked around on google and found a site the provided the "List/Util.pm" script and I uploaded the folder and file to the extlib directory in the mt directory.

Now I get an error stating it can't find the "Time/HiRes.pm" perl script with the following error.

Movable Type should run right out of the box. If not, then you have to ask customer support to enable the '.cgi' extension in IIS. Adding the '.cgi' extension in 'Set Script Map' via control panel won't do the job.

The thing is I'm not having problems running any of the CGI scripts. I have successfully installed MT. But now when I try to log in for the first time I get the errors I mention above.

Any Ideas?

I have installed MT 4.21 and it works right out of the box. Perhaps you should try 4.21 instead of 4.12. If you get the same problems again, you have the customer support check the PERL installation on your server.

Hello,

I have a couple of other issues.

1. I have Movable Type running, but the administration site is SOOOOO slow. It's almost not worth running. Is there something that WebHost4Life can to do? Within Movable Type I have already enabled "Module Caching" and "PHP Server Includes" is there something else I can do?

2. For some strange reason, comments cannot be added to my blog. No one can even register on the site. I have ensured that System Wide comments are enabled and users are allowed to register natively. Also within the blog I created, users are allowed to leave comments, Entries are defaulted to allow comments, users are allowed to register, and even anonymous comments can be left. WHAT AM I MISSING? Confused [8-)]
